Today I'm sharing with you a yeast free pizza dough, that is so easy, an award I received by two different bloggers and a contest I won!
First off - pizza. As you know this is my all-time favorite food. I can eat it anyway - thin crust, thick crust, Chicago style, stuffed, whatever toppings on hand, you name it, I'll eat it. I got this recipe from my friend and old co-worker, Megan (Hey, girl!). Sadly, this is the first time I tried it and she gave it to me, like 3 years ago. For those of you that are afraid of yeast, try this.
Yeast Free Pizza Dough
2 c. flour
1 t. salt
2 t. baking powder
2/3 c. water
1/4 c. vegetable oil
*I added some garlic salt to the crust mixture, to give it some extra flavor*
*I added some garlic salt to the crust mixture, to give it some extra flavor*
Mix flour, salt, baking powder and water. Knead on floured counter just until workable and spreadable, about 2 minutes. Put on pizza pan or stone, with fingers spread vegetable oil on crust. Bake at 425 degrees for 5 min. Take out, add sauce and toppings and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and brown. I opted for this to just be a cheese pizza, of parmesan and mozzarella, didn't want to ruin a good thing!

And lastly, look what I won!
Ashley, from Food, Fotos and Fun, recently held a giveaway for ZEVIA sodas and/or pop. What do you call it, soda or pop?
I won a whole mixed case! I'm not a pop drinker, but my husband is, and recently he has tried giving it up (he's currently drinking a LOT of iced tea). So this will be a great thing for him! ZEVIA contains none of the chemically processed artificial sugar substitutes, artificial flavors or artificial colors found in other diet sodas. ZEVIA is all-natural, has zero calories, zero net carbs, zero fat, and little or no sodium (depending on flavor)."
Doesn't hurt to try it right? Especially when it is FREE.
Don't forget to pick out my TRUTH!
Congrats on winning the Zevia!! And thanks for the Creative Blogger Award :-).
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess that you can sing the ABCs backwards...

This is getting scary...pizza is my all time favorite food too! We're totally best friends. Ha ha! I'm going to have to try this dough, since I don't have the best track record with yeast.

ReplyDelete#4! i call it soda since im from massachusetts even though i occasionally slip and call it pop! you iowans influence me in a bad bad way!
ReplyDeleteill make sure to do this fun game tomorrow!
Interesting pizza dough! One trick is if you let it sit for about 30 minutes, the baking powder will have a chance to work and you'll be rewarded with a crispy, yet chewy crust.
ReplyDeleteYou and I could be sisters - I heart pizza so much too!! I am actually going to try a buffalo chicken pizza on Friday - cannot wait!
Love your Zevia loot - still haven't found it by me, but I haven't looked that hard either.
Some of you have gotten my Truth right but I won't reveal until tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea about letting the dough set for 30 min. I will try that for sure! I plan on trying a barbecue chicken pizza later this week:)
Thanks so much, girl!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going with number 6, only because I have never smoked one. ;)
You look like a golfer, I'm gonna go with the golf state champion. Yummy pizza!! Thanks for sharing the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI never saw a pizza dough without yeast! I can't wait to try it. Thanks for passing the award on to me! I was thinking #1.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the award Ally! I am really craving pizza and that looks easy enough : ) Also let us know what you think of the Zevia, the flavors sound awesome.
ReplyDeletei cant wait to try it I've always used betty crocker packets and they never turn out!!!!!!!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteSo excited that I found your blog. I have a yeast allergy in a yeast loving family. It will be nice to be able to eat the same food as the family without getting sick after. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe pizza dough retains a distinct taste even without the yeast.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know that it's possible. Thanks a lot for sharing that recipe. It looks easy to make one.

Yeast free dough hooray! But putting cheese on it defeats the purpose since cheeses are prohibited for a yeast free, candida free diet.
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I'm wrong.

Hi Chris, you may very well be right, I'm not that familiar with a yeast free diet. I was most attracted to this recipe more for the simplicity of it, as you didn't have to wait for the dough to rise.
ReplyDeleteI made this tonight. I have no exp with dough, so here's the question: i used wheat flour, and it seemed to be dry after mixing in the water. does wheat require more water than white flour?
ReplyDeletestill, it was pretty good, and fun to make.
Hi Matt! I have never tried this recipe with wheat flour....but wheat flour does have a completely different texture than white flour, I'm imagining that is why it was a little dry. Maybe try adding a little more oil to the dough?
ReplyDeleteI used LIGHT spelt flour to make this crust. I did need to use a bit more flour. Added rosemary and garlic powder. Came out lovely, not that different in texture from white flour. Regular spelt is a bit heavy - I haven't tried it. I really enjoyed this healthier, yeast-free alternative. Thank you!!
ReplyDeletecan you freeze this dough?
ReplyDeleteI have never froze this dough...so I'm not sure if it would hold up or not. Sorry!
