Well, it kind of resembled our house last night. Two guys = husband, little man. A girl = me. A pizza place = my kitchen.
I'm not sure why I started up the oven when the heat index was well above 100 degrees, but when a girl is craving pizza, there is just no stopping her.
I used Biz' pizza dough recipe. I love that you can just mix, cover and forget about it. None of that timed rising with some other yeast doughs.
Pizza Dough
2 c. flour (I used whole wheat)
1 c. warm water
1 t. salt
1 pkg yeast
Combine all with a wooden spoon in a bowl and cover with plastic wrap.
I mixed mine up around noon, and just watched it ferment and rise on the counter till about 5:30pm when I decided to cook up the pizzas. Shorter or longer, I don't really think it matters.
With floured hands stretch the dough to desired pizza size. Place on baking sheet and bake 5 minutes without any toppings/sauce. I think this gives it a crisper texture. Then add all sauce/toppings and bake until melted.
For pizzas I like to keep the oven on a high heat (425-450 degrees).
Since the oven was already on and we were feeling dessert I also whipped up a quick batch of my flourless peanut butter bars.
Trust me, you'll never make peanut butter cookies with flour again. Who needs the mess of it?
Do you have a designated pizza night at your house?
I used to love that show! We had pizzas last night too! Great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteThat is when I was first introduced to Ryan Reynolds....ahhhhh memories :)
ReplyDeleteIf my kids had there way pizza would be everyday! Friday used to be our pizza night, but in the summer it seemed to get thrown out the window. Too hot to cook :)
Mmmmm... pizza sounds good! It's cold here so it sound doubly good. ;)
ReplyDeleteI've had flourless PB cookies before and I just remember how amazing the taste and texture was... I may have to try your recipe! Thanks!
Thanks for the pizza dough recipe, can't wait to try it out Friday night on pizza night.
ReplyDeleteGlad the dough worked for you Ally! Actually it doesn't really matter if it sits out all day, or you roll it out right then.
ReplyDeleteAnd even better? Make a couple batches and leave it in the fridge up to two weeks - the longer it sits the more the yeast it works and changes the flavor - so good!
And nothing wrong with turning on the oven when the pizza crave hits - no matter the outdoor temps!
Thje flourless PB cookies are sooo much better than the floured version- they're much more peanut buttery!
ReplyDeletewe don't have a designated pizza night, but it's typically our go to meal if we can't think of anything else!
ReplyDeleteGreat dough recipe! I love how you can just leave it there and let it do it's thang!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a tortilla night every Friday with an ex years ago, but I've never had designated pizza night :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have a designated pizza night, but I am totally thinking of instilling one.
