We did.
I purchased some ground pork on sale last week and decided to tackle some pork burgers. I think the only time I've had one is at a fair or carnival...being I do live in the land of PORK, that is pretty sad.
I opted to add a slice of crumbled bacon and diced cheddar cheese to these, as I was pretty certain just plain pork would be boring. Dull. And probably tasteless. They turned out really good and we'll probably be making a reappearance soon!
Bacon Cheddar Pork Burgers
1 lb. ground pork
1 slice bacon, cooked and crumbled
4 sliced chunk sharp cheddar cheese, diced
1 t. garlic salt
1 t. pepper
In a bowl combine all ingredients and mix gently. Form into four patties and refrigerate overnight or at least a few hours to firm up.
Place on tin foil on the grill over medium-high heat. After 11 minutes, flip and remove foil. Grill another 8-10 minutes on the second side or until done.
We went bun less this night and I served them with garlic roasted potatoes out of the oven. Seems like a summer meal even though summer clearly hasn't reached Iowa yet!
What summer meal are you getting excited for?
Sounds delicious! I've been eating a lot of pork lately...but never thought to make pork burgers. I think if I did make these I would do half beef, just for that beefy taste.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to our garden this summer, and growing FRESH blueberries! Or at least that's what Nick says we are going to do...we'll see :)
BACON AND CHEDDAR!? What more could you want!
ReplyDeleteI am hosting a link up centered around fish right now so if you have any recipes to share, feel free to stop by!
I love to mix up different kinds of meat. And living in Iowa you can deny pork!
ReplyDeleteI am missing my salsa Ally! Hannah and I just finished the last jar that we canned last summer. How sad is that?!

I can't imagine you will be doing the farmers market this summer, will you?
