These simple & easy bagels are perfect for breakfast!
Just combine flour + Greek yogurt with a few seasonings and you're set.
Every once in awhile I check in on my blog stat's to see what everyone is searching. It's kinda fun to see! One month people are crammering for ground beef recipes {check out this post} and the next it's all about my famous banana bread.
Since mid-March when this pandemic hit us, my #2 searched recipe has been my 2 Ingredient Everything Bagels.
For good reason! They are really good and easy. That got me thinking....maybe I should try another version? Why not? So that is where these Greek Yogurt Honey Breakfast Bagels came in.
I wanted a sweet version.
I will not bore you with how long it took me to name them.
Well, actually maybe I will.
You see one of my biggest pet peeves is when people complain about recipes. I'm of the notion that if I don't like a recipe or have an issue with it - I just move on. There is no reason I need to rant and rave to the author about my grievence.
Most complaints I receive have to do with people changing my recipe and then telling me it didn't work out. NO KIDDING? After I published my 2 Ingredient Everything Bagels I had a zillion comments from people saying there were MORE than two ingredients in the recipe so why on God's green earth would I name them that?
They were right.
But see I don't get wrapped up like many do in all those petty details. The two MAIN ingredients in that bagel recipe AND in this current bagel recipe are flour and Greek yogurt. That is what makes this bagel. After that you throw in a few simple PANTRY STAPLES THAT EVERYONE HAS ON HAND ALWAYS {salt, baking powder, cinnamon, etc.} and that my friends is the completed recipe.
A 2-Ingredient title is catchy and grabs people attention {oh, that it did!} so that is why I kept it that way. But clearly it affected me enough to not name this recipe 2-Ingredient Honey Breakfast Bagels.
I didn't want to hear all the complaining again.
That was a bit of a rant, but I wanted you to hear the backstory.
Of why I stress over recipes titles more than anything else. A lot goes into those few words and even then sometimes I don't get it right! I won't even go into SEO and Google and what they require from us to get seen on the internet as that is a different story.
It's hard to keep all my readers happy. I get it right most of the time but not always. Saying this, I hope you make these bagels!
They are the perfect breakfast treat and make JUST 4 BAGELS so you will not be overwhelmed and feel like you need to freeze a batch or have to deliver to all your neighbors.
I used honey flavored Greek yogurt in these to give them a bit more flavor without the added sugar and I really liked it! If you can't find honey, vanilla works just fine. For just a small crunch/crisp on the top I sprinkled brown sugar and cinnamon over the egg wash.
It was just enough to make them slightly sweet.
We love bagels in our house, but don't get them often so they are a bit of a treat. I personally like a sweet bagel slathered in cream cheese and a bit of my homemade strawberry freezer jam on top. These are great fresh from the oven, but can also be toasted for extra crispiness. I keep mine in a Ziploc bag to stay fresh, but they also freeze well and toast up just fine later too.
Will you try these?
It's a great recipe to make with kids too! Simple enough and ready in under an hour. Also, feel free to change up the seasonings and play around.
I WILL NOT GET MAD, NOR DO YOU NEED TO TELL ME IF YOUR SEASONING CHANGE DIDN'T WORK.
Can you tell that's a sore subject for me? LOL.
Play around! Make a pumpkin pie spice version! Make a garlic and herb version! You are in charge of your own kitchen. Enjoy.
