Hy-Vee's Halloween Guide + Perks of a Unique Shopping Experience

Halloween is right around the corner folks! With three young kids {ages 11, 9 and 6} it's met with great fanfair at our house. Around early September I hear rumblings of what they are going to dress up as – albeit it changes about 10 times, but there is CHATTER.

They plan with their friends at school, they discuss what's cool, they ask me over and over what I'm willing to buy. Then around the second week of October we've all settled in on what their costumes will be and the rest of the month centers around candy and parties and the like.

As a Mom I sit back and listen and just mentally think about how to make that day easy and fun, with the least amount of stress possible!

Being from the Midwest, we often rely on the major grocery retailer in our area, Hy-Vee. In my personal opinion, a one-stop-shop for all things Halloween! From candy, to bakery desserts, to costumes to helpful recipes – it's the place where you can grab all the fixings for this fun holiday.

Hy-Vee always does an amazing job of providing us parents with ALL THE THINGS needed to keep these kids of ours happy.

Recently Hy-Vee put together an impressive Halloween Guide that includes recipes, at-home activities, food allergy safe information and downloadable coloring sheets for kids {which my girls LOVE}. I personally love the pumpkin recipe section {remember, food blogger here!}.

Think over-the-top pumpkin pudding parfaits – they look fancy, but are easy.

Plus, they always make sure to link their monthly Seasons Magazine online {for those who can't get to the store and snag a FREE copy} and of course this month is all about Halloween. And if you are shopping at Hy-Vee already, make sure to check out their Halloween events last week of October.

Listen, I've been food blogging for over 10 years. Even this seasoned veteran has times where the ideas aren't flowing. I love looking to others for fresh new ideas. My kids can get bored with the same old stuff. I asked them to pick between two recipes that Hy-Vee is showcasing for Halloween.

Pizza is always a big hit at our house {like most families}. We are eating it at least once a week regardless, so why not make a Mummy Pizza! Hey, anytime they can get in the kitchen with me and make a semi-homemade meal that requires quick and easy ingredients with little mess – I'm game.

Who doesn't love a STUFFED pizza?

Setting Halloween aside – there are approximately 398 other reasons {whose counting?} why I enjoy shopping at Hy-Vee. I'm super lucky to have one just 15 minutes from my house. When the pandemic hit I 100% took advantage of their Hy-Vee Aisles Online ordering system. It was super convenient from my home computer or my phone. As a way to “just get out of the house” I always chose the pick-up option so I could also snag a coffee just to have that normal feeling. But trust me, their delivery right to your doorstep is also a godsend.

When I'm physically in the store, I keep my eye out for their hundreds of lowered prices throughout the store. When you see “red” {the red down arrow with a smiling face on it}, that indicates a price drop. And as an added bonus – my monies turn into additional perks earning me exclusive deals and digital coupons, plus cash off gas with their . program.
