French Onion BBQ Sliders

Here is a dinner I’ll be feeding my family for years to come!

My new French Onion BBQ Sliders are easy to make and always a crowd pleaser.

This post is sponsored by Cookies BBQ Sauces & Seasonings, but all opinions are my own.

Some recipes I just want to make over and over and this recipe is one of them. Also, all five family members raved about them and the whole tray was gone within a few hours. That’s a sign of a great recipe.

And as usual, I always want to give you an EASY recipe, so here we go!

In my three-part series with Cookies this Summer we first featured my 5 ingredient Korean Chicken (all cooked and served on a sheet pan)! And today we’ve got another fun one.

Hand holding a bottle of Cookies Sweet Hickory BBQ Sauce with sweet buns in the background.

For these sliders, I’m using Cookies Sweet Hickory barbecue sauce. It has a splash of pineapple juice and hints of cayenne pepper that creates a thick, sweet and zesty sauce that was perfect for these little sandwiches. It also has the perfect consistency for sticking to our sandwich and meat toppings.

Honestly, any of their sauces would be tasty in this recipe, depending on the barbecue flavor you are after – take a browse at them all right HERE.

In true fashion it takes just a handful of ingredients to bring these sliders together. Sweet Hawaiian buns, provolone cheese, sliced roast beef, French’s fried onions (just like the ones you use in green bean casserole – so fun!), Cookies Sweet Hickory barbecue sauce, butter and seasonings.

They bake together and get warm and gooey and melty!

These are the perfect party bites, yet just as easy for a simple weeknight dinner.

If you love a decadent, rich and hearty bowl of French Onion Soup, you’ll love these sliders. The flavors really, really remind me of that classic dish.

But with half the effort!

Make sure to grab all the ingredients for these the next time at the grocery store – and if hosting a party double the ingredients! You’ll want to, they go fast.

For almost 50 years Cookies has been dedicated to bringing us high-quality sauces and seasonings that make our foods taste better. Their Sweet Hickory sauce might be one of my new favorites.

A big thanks to Cookies for sponsoring this post.

French Onion BBQ Sliders

French Onion BBQ Sliders

This slider mimics all the flavors of classic French Onion Soup, but with some barbecue flare! Easy to make and great for parties.
Prep time: 10 MinCook time: 25 MinTotal time: 35 Min

Ingredients

  • 15 King’s Hawaiian Rolls, split in half
  • 8 slices provolone cheese
  • 1 lb sliced roast beef
  • ½ cup Cookies Sweet Hickory barbecue sauce (or any bbq sauce)
  • 3 oz. French’s Fried Onions
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • ½ of a 2 oz. dry Au Jus packet
  • ½ of a 2 oz. dry Onion Soup Mix packet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish with cooking spray.
  2. To assemble the sliders – lay down the bottom half of the slider buns, provolone cheese, roast beef, bbq sauce, fried onions and then the top half of the slider buns.
  3. In a bowl melt the stick of butter in the microwave, then add in the seasonings stirring to combine. Using a pastry brush pour and brush the melted seasoned butter over the top of the buns.
  4. Lightly cover the dish with tin foil, tenting it in the middle so the foil doesn’t touch the slider buns.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes until warmed through and the cheese is melted. Take a knife and gently cut in between the sliders before serving.

  2. Follow up: I’ve made these twice, now!! Rare roast beef from the deli on slider buns. No Cookies BBQ sauce in NYC so used Carolina gold. Don’t skip the French fried onions!! 😋 Great reheated the next day.
