Watermelon Gin & Tonic

Here is a fun cocktail for Summer when watermelon is in season!
These Watermelon Gin & Tonics are refreshing and simple.

Growing up my Dad always made everyone traditional gin & tonics when guests or family were around, and he still does to this day! Chances are if you visited their house the tumblers, gin and fresh limes would come out.

It was always a good time!

I've always felt that gin & tonics were the perfect refreshing drink for hot Summer days. Cold, fresh flavors, easy to make. Once you have a bottle of gin, plus a handful of limes and tonic water on hand - those supplies will last you many, many cocktails for your guests!

With mid Summer here I decided to take up these gin & tonics a notch and add fresh watermelon. The area we live in is really known for watermelon as a certain part of the area has sandy soil for them to grow in.

We literally have watermelons growing out of our ears around here!

And fun fact, that may sound a bit odd here - I'm not a fresh watermelon fan. Meaning I'll never grab a slice off the potluck table to eat. But, I do enjoy its flavor in things, like drinks.

I know, weird (I'm the same way with grapefruit).

I found these adorable bubble rimmed cocktail glasses last year and I've been using them constantly. You can grab a set of six HERE. They look vintage! They are the perfect size for this drink.

And anyone can make this cocktail! It's incredibly easy.

Just ice, fresh cubed watermelon, a shot of gin, fresh lime juice all topped with bubbly tonic water. That's it!

This might just be your new drink of the Summer! If you enjoy a light, somewhat dry cocktail, with splashes of Summer fruit then it's for you. The recipe below shows the ingredients for one drink, but it can easily be doubled, tripled, quadrupled for a crowd.

And if you love watermelon - like it's your main Summer fruit - once the drink it finished you have some really fun alcohol soaked pieces to devour at the end!

I cannot wait to see your own photos!
