If your kids love
store bought bagel bites, consider making my homemade version!
So incredibly easy
and much healthier!
This post is
sponsored by AE Dairy, but
all opinions are my own.
Grab some cottage cheese, I’ve got another fun recipe for
you to try today! All I really need to say is that I had a boat load of extra
kids in the house the day I made these and the entire tray was gone in under a
minute.
So, yes….kid approved.
I will be making more batches of these soon – especially
with school starting later next week. My kids kinda flipped out for these!
What makes these bagels so fun and easy is that there are
only THREE ingredients in the dough. Yes, you are reading that
correctly. All you need is self-rising flour, sea salt and cottage cheese.
Sounds odd but trust me, it works!
Continuing with my AE
Dairy partnership - we decided this month we’d be featuring cottage cheese
(as it’s a protein staple for back-to-school time!). And what better way to
feature it than in a bite sized pizza treat.
These can be eaten straight out of the oven or even baked
and frozen for easy school lunches.
AE Dairy and I have
made some fun dishes using their cottage cheese. It’s so incredibly versatile.
And if you’ve ever tried their version, you know just how creamy and delicious
it is.
Remember my Strawberry
Cheesecake Ice Cream? The recipe that requires no ice cream maker? Or the Berry
Cheesecake Bars that are a big hit during Summer berry season? And then my
savory Cheesy
Spinach Dip that is great with veggies and chips? All three of those
recipes used versions of AE Dairy
cottage cheese.
Now, lest you think making these shortcut bagels are hard – they’re not!
Again, THREE INGREDIENT DOUGH, very little prep work (just cut into 4 squares, shape into a ball, poke a hole and roll into a bagel shape), then a quick egg wash + seasoning and bake!
Now – let me say – you can stop right there and have an amazing bagel, or you can take it a step further as I did and make these pizza bagels. I kept it simple (for the kids) and topped them with marinara, cheese and pepperoni.
Although, I did add a swirl of hot
honey to mine and it was INSANE.
And I know you’re thinking….how does the texture of
cottage cheese work in a bagel dough? Well, in this case you pulse the
cottage cheese until smooth in a food processor or blender – that’s how it
works!
Or you can skip that step and buy AE
Dairy’s Whipped Smooth Cottage Cheese instead.
Either way works the same!
Bookmark this super fun one for the kids! Or for yourself –
remember you can top these however you want – adult toppings are the BEST.
And as a bonus, each bagel contains over 10 grams of protein
(even before toppings), so it’s a nice protein-packed breakfast or lunch.
Make these soon! Tag myself (@sweetsavoryeats) and AE
Dairy (@aedairy) and we’ll be
sure to share your photos.
A big thanks to AE Dairy for sponsoring this post.
Yummy and quick🙏🏾
