Peanut Butter Cup Apple Salad

An iconic Midwestern salad gets a twist here from the flavors of peanut butter!
Bring this dish to any gathering and watch it disappear.

A bowl of diced apples, Reese's peanut butter cups and bowl of the apple salad.

If you are ever asked to bring a salad to any gathering make it this one. And yes, I know....saying it's a salad is a stretch, but here in the Midwest we call most anything that fits in a bowl a salad.

I remember eating a similar version of this "salad" growing up and have made it a million times since, but recently a thought occurred that perhaps I change it up just a bit?

A bowl of diced apples sitting next to unwrapped peanut butter cups on a wooden cutting board.

I heard a friend say, "I don't like Snickers".....which is the original candy bar in this apple salad. Getting past her not liking Snickers was one thing (who could not like America's candy bar), but after that my mind went to this dish.

I thought, what if I change the candy bar in this apple salad to give it an entirely different taste?

Enter my peanut butter fans!

The very simple ingredients in this salad (vanilla instant pudding, milk, whipped topping) gets combined with creamy peanut butter, tart green apples and in this case....

REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS.

Perhaps America's other beloved chocolate bar?

This apple salad is both tart and sweet (you definitely need green apples), yet with the addition of the creamy peanut butter and chopped up peanut butter cups, it's also.....well, dreamy.

Not healthy of course, but dreamy.

If you bring this to a party you'll have everyone asking for the recipe! It's fun and unique. Serve it as a side dish or as dessert. Works both ways.

I tried hiding this bowl of greatness in the back of the fridge....but alas, one kid found it, announced it to the others and soon spoons were being grabbed and diving into the serving bowl.

It's too hard to not eat in my opinion.

I'm looking forward to see you all make this soon!

It would make the PERFECT holiday side dish. If you make it snag a photo and tag me at (@sweetsavoryeats) and I'll be sure to share the love.
